Profile

Mirko Benischke (click here for an up-to-date CV) is an Associate Professor of Global Strategy in the Department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He holds a PhD in International Business from the University of Auckland (New Zealand). Currently, he serves as RSM's Dean of Engagement (and Executive Education). Previously, he was the Academic Director for RSM's BSc International Business Administration (IBA) as well as the BSc Business Administration / Bedrijfskunde (BA) programs from 2020 to 2023.

Mirko's teaching interests are focused in the area of strategy, with a specific focus on strategic leadership and corporate governance as well as global strategy. He has taught a variety of courses and modules at the executive (globl executive and full-time MBA, as well as customized executive education programs), graduate, and undergraduate levels. He has been awarded the "Professor of the Year Award" twice for his undergraduate course on International Business.

His research focuses on three main themes: (1) strategic decision-making of senior executives (CEOs, top management teams, and Board of Directors), (2) internationalization strategies of multinational corporations, and (3) climate change adaptation. Since 2018, Mirko has been a high-performing member of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). His research has been awarded the prestigious Haynes Prize by the Academy of International Business and has been accepted for publication in renowned journals such as: the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, the Academy of Management Perspectives, Human Resource Management (US), Strategic Organization, and International Business Review. His research on CEOs and their role in strategic decision-making has been featured in the Harvard Business Review and RSM Discoveries (Access to affordable medicines).

Mirko is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Studies. Additionally, he has been invited to serve on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of World Business, Global Strategy Journal, and the Multinational Business Review.
