Profile

Dimitrios Vlachopoulos (he/him) is an Associate Professor of Management Education at the Department of Technology and Operations Management (Innovation Management Section).

Since 2005, Dimitrios has taught and/or conducted research in several universities in the USA (University of California at Berkeley and Walden University), the UK (University of Liverpool, University of Roehampton London, University of Essex and University of Hull), Spain (University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona and Open University of Catalonia), Greece (Hellenic Open University), Cyprus (European University Cyprus and Open University of Cyprus) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences). Over the last 10 years, in parallel with teaching and research, Dimitrios also held leadership roles related to e-learning program development, student retention and academic staff professional development.

Dr. Vlachopoulos holds a PhD in Distance Education and Instructional Technology from the Department of Research Methods of the University of Barcelona. Additionally, he holds six master’s degrees in the field of education sciences and business administration.

Dimitrios is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy & Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. He has completed successfully the Senior Teaching Qualification at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on new emerging pedagogies, evidence-based and sustainable innovation in management education, digital transformation of higher education, quality assurance, change management, technology use & wellbeing and teachers’ training.

His research activity has as blueprint the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities). His research has been published in top-ranked academic journals, including the International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education, the British Journal of Educational Technology, Computers and Education (AI), the International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning, Education and Information Technologies, PLOS One, Technology, Knowledge and Learning, Studies in Educational Evaluation, European Journal of Education and International Review of Education.
