Profile

Taslim is a lecturer at the Business-Society Management Department at RSM. In addition to his teaching, he is the coordinator of the I DO course and Professional Development course. He is also a thesis coach to master’s students at RSM. Taslim is very passionate about lecturing because it aligns with his personal values of impacting the society positively via the students he teaches or coach.

Taslim completed his PhD in 2020 at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). His dissertation “Innovation Adaptation in Urban Light-Rail Transport” centers on how transport infrastructure authorities in Ethiopia and Nigeria adapts the pricing and infrastructural innovations from China, using frugal approach. He focused on aspects such as the use of multi-actor interactions and absorptive capacity processes to deliver frugality, its sustainability effects on Multi-National Corporations (MNCs), local authorities, and bottom of pyramid (BoP).

Taslim’s core area of expertise includes the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine the extent and flow of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI’s) across continents, application of GIS to Business Analytics (descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics), application of GIS to economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Research interests include the impacts of experiential learning; frugal innovation and nonprofit relationships; management pathways from urban development and smart cities; the application of space science to management and development studies.

During his PhD, Taslim's experience also includes roles as a GIS analyst and data scientist in the IHS-EUR team for Economic Outlook, Sustainable Cities and Structural Transformation; Lead GIS analyst in the IHS-EUR team, sustainability benefits of green-growth for the UN-Habitat.

Prior to his PhD, Taslim has worked as a Space Applications Scientist and GIS analyst at the National Space Research and Development Agency in Nigeria; and a project manager for the United Nations Space-Based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER). He is an alumnus of the International Space University (ISU), France.
