Profile

Dr Ben Wempe studied political theory in Leiden, Florence and Oxford. His present research interests include organizational ethics, political theory, Idealism, social contract theories, and corporate social responsibility. He has published in academic journals such as Acta Politica, Business Ethics: A European Review, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Organization Studies. He is on the editorial board of various of these journals and an Associate Editor of Business & Society.

He has frequently presented papers at international conferences, including meetings of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), the European Business Ethics Network in the UK (EBEN-UK), the Political Science Association (PSA), the International Association for Business & Society (IABS), the Society for Business Ethics (SBE) and the Social Issues in Management (SIM) division of the Academy of Management. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford, UK. He also held Visiting Scholarships at the Legal Studies Department, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; and the Institute for Business and Professional Ethics, DePaul University, Chicago.

Dr Wempe organized the IABS 2007 Annual Meeting at Villa La Pietra, Florence, Italy and served as IABS President in 2008-2009.
