Graduates from MSc programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) work all over the world, and more than half of them had already found a job before even graduating. HR recruitments will also be impressed by other results in RSM’s newly released MSc Employment Report 2016, for which a survey was conducted among recent graduates from all of RSM’s full-time master programmes.

Results from the report show that RSM MSc graduates are highly in demand among company recruiters. More than half of RSM master students secured a job even before graduating, and 84 per cent has found employment within six months after graduation. Their average start salary is €2,969 gross per month, an increase of €19 from last year. On average the highest salaries are earned by graduates from RSM’s MSc International Management/CEMS and MSc Finance & Investments.

High response rate

The survey was conducted in March 2016, and RSM received responses from 421 out of the 1,304 MSc graduates who graduated between 1 September 2014 and 10 October 2015. This is a response rate of 32.2 per cent, which has doubled compared to the 2015 survey. The largest group of respondents is from the MSc Finance & Investments (21 per cent), MSc Business Information Management (14 per cent), and MSc Supply Chain Management (13 per cent).

Diversity

The report discloses full details about the respondents’ demographics, employment situation, details about their contracts and benefits, how they found a job, and their extracurricular activities. There were 43 nationalities among the respondents; 55.5 per cent were Dutch, 34 per cent came from the European Economic Area (EEA), and 10.5 per cent came from outside of the EEA. Most international respondents came from Germany (12.9 per cent), Greece (4.3 per cent), and Hungary (3.6 per cent). Almost 8 per cent of the graduates had more than one nationality. Among non-EEA students, the employment report shows an increase in graduates finding jobs in their home country.

Connecting with students

Graduates often find employment by using their own networks, doing an internship or creating new networks via events or online. There are many opportunities for companies to meet and interact with RSM students on campus, including company presentations and the annual student-organised STAR Management Week and the Erasmus Recruitment Days. In addition, companies can post vacancies and internship opportunities on the RSM Job Board, and there are also many other ways for companies to interact with RSM students.
