Before joining RSM on 1 June 2015, Cornelissen was professor at VU University Amsterdam. Prof. Cornelissen will work with other RSM faculty members to further strengthen its post-graduate and executive programmes within management and communication.

“I’m delighted to join one of the leading research-led business schools in Europe,” he says. “I’m also particularly excited about becoming a member of the Corporate Communication Centre, and working closely with Professor Cees van Riel.”

International experience

The focus of Cornelissen’s activities at the start of his appointment will be mainly on research and teaching as part of the MSc in Global Business and Stakeholder Management. Towards the summer of 2016, Cornelissen will gradually become more involved in teaching activities within the part-time Executive Master of Science in Corporate Communication programme (MCC).

Prof. Cornelissen’s research is well-known in the area of corporate communication and organisation theory. His research on communication topics has been published in many of the leading journals in the management field. “Cornelissen will undoubtedly have a lot of added value for RSM,” says Cees van Riel, professor of corporate communication at RSM. “He is an established academic researcher with an impressive track record. His international experience will allow him to continue the relationships with the global community of corporate communication researchers.”

Corporate Communication Centre (CCC)

Professor Van Riel is one of the founding fathers of the discipline, and has developed the Corporate Communication Centre (CCC) into one of the top research and educational centres in this part in the world. Cornelissen says his aim for the coming years is to work alongside Cees and to contribute to the further development of the centre and its flagship Executive Master in Corporate Communication programme.

Van Riel’s role as Director of the CCC and of the MCC programme will be passed on to Cornelissen after Van Riel’s retirement in the summer of 2017.
