More than 100 graduates from the International Full-time MBA programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) celebrated the completion of their studies at the World Trade Center Rotterdam on Friday, 22 March 2024.

In addition to the 104 graduates from the MBA Class of 2024, there were around 250 guests, and family and friends worldwide could also watch via the livestream.

RSM’s Dean of Education, Prof. Michel Lander, congratulated the graduates. He said environmental, social and corporate governance are no longer business add-ons, but it’s expected from consumers and from society. Also, generative AI has exploded into our lives, enabling companies and organisations to boost business and improve the customer experience faster than ever before.

“You are now equipped, professionally and personally, to be at the forefront of driving change in whatever path you choose. It was your courage and your commitment to embracing change that has led you to this moment today,” said the dean. “You are the type of business leader that is needed for the future.”

The MBA Student Award went to graduate José Manuel Jottar as chosen by faculty. The graduating cohort selected lecturer Dr Trevor Wegner for the Faculty Award for standing out during their learning journey with his lectures on quantitative platform of business.

Unique personalities and skillsets

The ceremony proceeded with graduates receiving their hard-earned diplomas. In the cohort, 2 people graduated summa cum laude with a grade point average (GPA) of 9 or higher. Another 8 graduated cum laude, completing their studies with a GPA of at least 8.6 out of 10.

Graduate Jake Veloza took the stage to talk about his RSM MBA experience. In his farewell address, said everyone has a unique personality and skillset. He encouraged his classmates to each find their own passion and pursue it with determination. “I’m excited to see what the future holds. The world awaits your impact,” he said.
