We donate a lot of money and things, but we are frugal with time. Why? Is that some form of selfishness, laziness, or is there something else behind it? “A complex question,” says Lucas Meijs, professor of Philanthropy at RSM. “I wouldn't call it selfish. We generally find it very easy to give away from our surplus. That winter coat we already had, or something as small as – indeed – tampons. Donating from the second harvest: we are often very generous with that.” In this article, Meijs discusses this issue.
