A large part of who I am now is thanks to the support of people who have believed in my potential. I came to the Netherlands without any network at all. I was surprised and humbled when I reached out to alumni and potential mentors to see that most of them were willing and enthusiastic about having a conversation and sharing what they know.
Overall, these sessions helped me in three ways (i) it helped me figure out what I wanted to do, (ii) what type of company I wanted to do it in and (iii) how to apply to these positions. I am now a mentor because I believe in giving back and sharing what I have learned with others. As a professional, it is nice to get a fresh perspective on things by meeting an eager, enthusiastic student.
