Students, academia and practitioners will come together at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) to explore how co-created business models can pave the way for a sustainable future, on Friday 31 March 2017. The RSM Sustainability Forum’s main speakers are Marc Bras (BMWi) and Thomas Rau (RAU Architecture and Turntoo). Participants will investigate sustainability cases during break-out sessions.

Socially and environmentally sustainable business models require novel business processes, frameworks and design for products. This means that co-created business models are needed.

Co-creating a sustainable future

During this year’s RSM Sustainability Forum, change makers, speakers from the world of business and academia will shed light on the aspects of co-created business models and on how attendees can co-create a sustainable future.

Marc Bras from BMWi, and Thomas Rau from RAU Architecture and Turntoo will discuss the interface between sustainability and business by showcasing best practices and engaging the audience in lively discussions during an inspiring afternoon event on campus.

Break-out sessions

During the break-out sessions attendees have the opportunity to work on real-life cases and challenges and brainstorm on solutions for sustainable business models. Speakers in the sessions include Michel de Goede, strategy consultant at Alliander; Fred van Beuningen, director of Clean Tech Delta; Dorus Galama, co-founder of Gerrard; Alain Buffing, founder of Tuk Tuk Cartel; Fokko Kroesen, environmental manager at KLM; and Marianne de Bie, senior advisor corporate affairs at Schiphol Group.

Sustainability master thesis

Another highlight of the RSM Sustainability Forum is the KPMG-RSM Sustainability Master Thesis Award presentation. Each year since 2006, KPMG has acknowledged the best sustainability-focused thesis written by a student from one of RSM’s MSc programmes with a cash award. This year the ceremony will be presented by Jerwin Tholen, director at KPMG Climate Change and Sustainability Services.
