Specialist researchers at The Partnerships Resource Centre (PrC) have contributed to a publication about Dutch and EU development policies that will be central to discussions at the ‘Ready for Change’ conference in Amsterdam on 19 May. The conference has as its agenda putting into action the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that were agreed by world leaders in Paris in September 2015. Implementation of these goals, which cover a broad agenda, requires a collective effort by governments, research institutions, the private sector and civil society organisations. The goals include addressing poverty, hunger, food security, sustainable agriculture, education and gender equality, among others.

The researchers, based at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) specialise in collecting and sharing information about selecting appropriate partnerships and increasing their efficiency, impact and effectiveness. The publication to which they have contributed, also entitled Ready for Change will be published on 19 May.

RSM researcher Rianne van Asperen co-authored a chapter on inclusive partnerships – one of the PrC’s main areas of expertise. The publication will be presented to Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Co-operation Lilianne Ploumen at the conference.

The conference includes presentations from Beyond 2015 Regional Co-ordinator for Africa and civil society leader, Stephen Chacha from Tanzania who will discuss the role of the Global South in the implementation of the SDGs. An expert panel closes the morning plenary with a lively discussion, with Hugo von Meijenfeldt from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ebba Dohlman from the OECD, Laura Sullivan from Concord and others.

The conference in Amsterdam is organised by Partos, Woord en Daad, and the Foundation Max van der Stoel.
