Before starting the next chapter in their careers, participants from two MBA programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) concluded their studies during the Future Executive Weekend: two days of useful sessions about putting their new knowledge into action, the RSM alumni network, and concluded by a spectacular gala evening, themed ‘The Great Gatsby’. The event took place on 28 and 29 November 2014.

The Future Executive Weekend 2014 celebrated the conclusion of the RSM MBA experience for the International Full-time MBA Class of 2015 and the Executive MBA (EMBA) Class of 2014, and to reflect on their academic learnings and to look into the future.

After dinner at Maria’s Cantina on campus on Friday 28 November, director of MBA programmes Milton Sousa led a session on the key learning objectives from the MBA that students will use in their future career. Then, alumnus Madhav Dhasmana (MBA’13) recapped his RSM MBA experiences and how he put his new knowledge into practice.

The EMBA’14 cohort had an interactive wrap-up session hosted by Gijs Pothof, co-founder of The Future Firm.  The focus was partly on telling their own story of their EMBA journey, and looking into their future career and life journeys.

Saturday 29 November started with sports activities at the Erasmus Sport Center, followed by lunch at the Erasmus Pavilion. The 70 participants attended a session by Nicolas Constantinesco about storytelling, and presentations by alumni Han Mesters (full-time MBA’95 ) and Stella Taliou (Full-time MBA’95). After being encouraged to become active members of RSM’s active alumni network, the participants moved to the historical Hulskamp Gebouw in Rotterdam for the ‘Great Gatsby Gala’.

Indian full-time MBA student Abhishek Roy says this ending of his RSM MBA experience “couldn’t have been sweeter.” He and his classmates Rahul Shankar and Leilani Meijer-Morison were the main organisers of the gala. Roy said it was really special to see the full-time MBA and executive MBA students together. “The whole weekend was fantastic. All kinds of unexpected things happened, even a marriage proposal, and I feel that our bond is really special now,” he said. “It was really rewarding to know how much everyone, the staff, the students and partners enjoyed the event. This really makes my year end on a high!”
