The programme has been devised by the Erasmus Centre for Energy Transition (ECET), a specialist knowledge and innovation centre affiliated with Erasmus University Rotterdam. The Centre has identified opportunities for all kinds of organisations in the transition from fossil fuels to renewables. Its experts will lead discussion sessions, case studies and encourage collaboration as participants work on their leadership skills and learn how to harness new technologies and drive energy transition initiatives in their own organisations.
ECET also has its own learning community for regional partners who are working on developing and designing solutions towards carbon neutral energy.
Associate Professor Dr Steve Kennedy, who leads part of the programme and is researching business sustainability at RSM said: “As a business leader, if you are not fully aware of the complexities surrounding the energy transition, your organisation’s pathway to innovation, effective collaboration and informed decision-making could be blocked. This might be something that your competitors already face.”
The programme covers navigating the complexities of transition, geopolitical developments, policy and regulatory developments, emerging technologies, business models and relationships.

For managers and professionals in the energy industry or in NGOs or governmental institutions RSM Executive Education runs a related programme Leading the Energy Transition. This is a four-day programme that runs from 7 October 2025.
