According to the latest Future of Jobs Report from the World Economic Forum, specific skills are essential to navigate the evolving job market. With this in mind, RSM aims to equip executive learners with the tools they need to thrive in the future of work via, among others, these three new short courses.
Strategic Problem Solving
As automation and data increasingly redefine the workforce, complex problem solving has become a crucial skill for leaders. RSM’s Strategic Problem Solving course is led by RSM faculty members Dr Marc Baaij, associate professor of Strategic Management and by James Parker, partner at Parma Consulting Group. Participants learn cutting-edge approaches to tackle the most challenging business problems, ensuring they are prepared for the future of work.
“In its Future of Jobs Report,” explains Dr Baaij, “the World Economic Forum listed analytical thinking first in its list of the top ten skills needed for a future in which artificial instead intelligence and the ever-increasing availability of data are making many, if not most, routine jobs redundant.” Mr Parker adds, “We have deep experience of the problem solving approaches that have been developed by some of the most prestigious consulting firms in the world.”
Navigating Power Dynamics
A key aspect of successful leadership is understanding and driving the fundamentals of power. The course Navigating Power Dynamics – led by Dirk van Dierendonck, professor or Leadership and Management at RSM and by Eline Peeters, executive coach at EnfP Training & Coaching – is designed to give participants the tools they need to better navigate complex power structures, foster trust and drive positive outcomes.
Prof. van Dierendonck elaborates, "To navigate power dynamics, leaders need to understand the relationships they are part of and how to influence others while remaining true to themselves.” Ms. Peeters states, “By enhancing their political skills, leaders can improve how they manage people, build alliances and use social networks to achieve goals.”
Decision Power: Clear Thinking for Better Decision Making
Making optimal decisions is critical to business success, yet many organisations settle for ‘good enough.’ In the Decision Power course, Dr Philip Eskenazi, RSM academic lecturer, presents a robust decision-making approach that combines intuitive and rational thinking. The course offers the tools that help participants to use the power of clear, rational decision-making and become leaders who consistently make choices that maximise value.
