New chairperson
Succeeding Laurenz Gelbmann as chair of the RSM STAR Case Club is Paula Kuhn (IBA 2026). She and the other newly appointed board members are in the process of learning all they can about their new positions, and they look forward to steering RSM to further success in the upcoming case competitions.
Laurenz is grateful for all the support shown to him and to the case club throughout this past academic year. Laurenz: “We would not be where we are today without the tremendous support we have received from all sides. A special thank you to Linda de Vries, Willem Koolhaas, Michel Lander, Myra van Esch, Otto Koppius and Bas Koene for accommodating our countless requests and always having an open ear. It has been an absolute pleasure to serve as the chairman of the RSM STAR Case Club, and it has been a year I will never forget!”
Some case club highlights
RSM STAR Case Competition 2024
The tenth edition of the RSM STAR Case Competition took place this past April. Under the motto ‘10 years of uniting ambition’ RSM welcomed to Rotterdam 16 of the best business schools from around the world. Two incredibly challenging cases were tackled by each team: a 12-hour case and a 24-hour case. By the end of the competition, Maastricht University took home the win with HEC Montreal and the National University of Singapore coming in second and third place respectively.
RSMCC 2024 proved to be another huge success with an overall rating of 4.8/5 given by participants and faculty advisors. With this, the school is hopeful and confident that the RSMCC will keep its qualifier status, placing it in the top ten of the most prestigious case competitions worldwide.
Outgoing competitions
Having placed at two finals – the Marchall International Case Competition (MICC) hosted by University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the International Case Competition Maastricht (ICCM) hosted by Maastricht University – along with multiple case wins, the RSM STAR Case Club looks forward to new challenges and chances at competition wins in the upcoming academic year.
Academic Year 2024-2025
To ensure a solid board presence for AY 2024-2025, a rigorous board recruitment process was conducted this past May. Over 35 students have applied for the available board positions, a more than 50% increase year over year. This is an excellent sign that the RSM STAR Case Club is in safe hands for the upcoming academic year.
