Students celebrated transformative education at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) with the annual Professor Awards by RSM Student Representation. Professors and courses were acknowledged at a festive event on campus recently. Each cohort of RSM’s BSc International Business Administration (IBA) and BSc Bedrijfskunde/Business Administration (BA) voted in the three categories: best professor, best course and best professional services team.

Around 80 people – mostly students – attended the awards ceremony, which was organised by SR’s eventscommittee. Speakers included RSM’s Dean of Education Michel Lander, IBA students Jahnavi Baldwa and Katia De Jong, and SR’s chairwoman Kalina McCarthy (IBA 2024).

Award winners were chosen based on votes by a total of 409 BA and IBA students. The awards went to the following academics, courses and support team at RSM:

Best professor nominees: Dr Juriaan Nijholt, Dr Jelle de Vries, Mark de Mooij, Dr Maurice de  Rochement, Dr Colin Lee, Dr Alexander Genevsky, Dr Yu Liu, Dr Jovana Karanovic, Dr Michael Becker-Peth, Dr Stephan Kramer, and Dr Romain Cadario.

Best course nominees: wiskunde (mathematics), finance, primaire processen (operations management), philosophy of science, quantitative decision-making, onderzoeksproject (research project), supply chain management,ondernemerschap (entrepreneurship), human resource management, and management accounting.

Best supporting staff nominees: RSM International Office, RSM Career Centre, Programme Management.

After the award ceremony, there were updates about the Student Representation committee’s milestones, including its new board for 2024-2025, which will be chaired by IBA student Maximilian Ibach. The other board members will be Patrick de Koning, Martyna Siejek, Lucía Muñiz González, Pepijn Vlaanderen, Moritz Jaeger, and Meryem Abayli.

The event concluded with celebratory drinks, snacks and desserts.

RSM Student Representation

The mission of RSM’s Student Representation (SR) is to look after the interests of students through representation on the faculty and university level. It is an intermediary between students and faculty personnel, ensuring an exchange of information and feedback between those bodies. This comes to expression in the evaluation, improvement proposals, and guarding of the education quality for RSM’s BA and IBA programmes.
