55 year olds and above, give society a lot of money, for example, by volunteering. This emerges from a study by the Scientific Bureau of 50PLUS. Almost half of volunteering is done by people over 55 years. Suppose the hours worked by the 55+ volunteers are valued with a minimum fee of 5 euros per hour. Then an amount of 5.3 billion euros is delivered per year, according to Prof. Lucas Meijs of the Rotterdam School of Management (EUR).
