Funding remains a problem for entrepreneurs in SMEs, due to the many problems of an application for funding complicating the process. The financial services provided by banks to SMEs is crucial, as is reflected in the annual ranking of the Global Competitiveness Report prepared by the World Economic Forum. However, professor Henk Volberda stresses that the credit and capital provision to SMEs and start-ups still needs improvement.
