Bonusses based on long-term criteria are often not sufficiently transparent or well structured, says Gerard Mertens, based on recent research conducted at RSM in cooperation with Hewitt Associates. He notes that bonusses need to be based on both long and short-term criteria, and that all criteria need greater transparency.
