This article focuses on a recent study conducted by Julia Kotlarsky and Ilan Oshri and published in the Journal of Information Technology. The study reviews aspects relating to the attractiveness of India for information technology offshore outsourcing. The research group's starting point was that India will remain competitive in the short-medium term. They argue, however, that country attractiveness is becoming a less important issue. They consider an alternative approach to analysing country attractiveness in which the client's strategic intent behind going offshore and the vendor's global dispersedness and its local knowledge define the attractiveness of the firm's offshoring strategy.
