Bonusses based on long-term criteria are often not sufficiently transparent or well structured, says Gerard Mertens, based on recent research conducted at RSM in cooperation with Hewitt Associates. The research has revealed inconsistencies such as the fact that up to 60% of executives who have not met performance targets still receive bonusses.
