The Netherlands has moved from 10th place to 8th place in the recently published World Competitiveness Study (World Economic Forum). The Netherlands scored well in efficiency in the commodities market and in the labor market, and stands at number 1 in the area of top technology. Henk Volberda is quoted noting that, with respect to the labor market, the Netherlands scores higher than other countries in the areas of severance benefits and cooperation between employer and employee.
