Research has found a yawning gap between the theory and practice of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM). Even the theoretical basis behind SHRM leaves something to be desired, according to Job Hoogendoorn. Little use is made of HR metrics when evaluating and reporting the results of SHRM. Hoogendoorn finds evidence from practice that SHRM can be improved - or even strongly improved.
