This article is about Ying Xu's thesis "Emperical Essays on the Stock Returns, Risk Management, and the Liquidity Creation of Banks". He concludes in his thesis that one of the causes of the current financial crisis was excessive risk-taking by banks. He believes that new, stricter rules could prevent another future crisis, but could also hinder economic recovery.
