Dutch citizens generously donate and actively support Red Cross efforts, according to their year-end report.
"There is no disinterest," says Lucas Meijs, professor of strategic philanthropy and volunteer work at Erasmus University. "In addition to the well-known volunteers, there is also a group of people who do not usually do volunteer work, but who spontaneously stand up in the event of a disaster or conflict: for example with a collection of winter coats for Ukraine."
