The demand for Dutch as the language of education in Dutch universities, primarily driven by a group of humanities scholars, is detrimental to internationalization efforts and quality in higher education, argues Gabriele Helfert of Erasmus University. The internationalization of education is vital for addressing global challenges and attracting top talent. Forcing academics to teach or publish in Dutch will hinder research and diminish the country's international reputation.
