Stefano Tasselli elaborates upon his published research on the perception that our colleagues have better social networks. Central individuals have a double source of advantage: they have many connections and are also connected to more supportive people. Since our personal network is overrepresented by central individuals, we perceive them to have better networks. It is suggested to give more attention to less central individuals, so that they too can learn to empower their networking skills and reap the benefits.
