Niek Hoogervorst is a behavioural scientist at DCMR Milieudienst Rijnmond and he previously worked as an assistant professor at RSM where he conducted research into the psychology of (un)ethical behaviour. In this column, he says that supervision in the public sector does not yet do enough with behavioral applications. All too often these applications remain stuck in funny gimmicks, while you can have a lot of impact if behavioral interventions are a permanent part of a supervisor's toolbox.
