Top sectors in The Netherlands have been challenged to look ahead and come up with creative ideas for the vaccination program against COVID-19.
The assignment was: design an integrated logistical and creative solution for a long-term planning for a pandemic vaccination program that can vaccinate quickly, carefully, responsibly and accurately, potentially 95% of the population in the Netherlands. In addition to a robust logistics model, information provision and appreciation, acceptance and accuracy of the operation are also of great importance, socially and economically.
One of the participants is Steef van de Velde, former dean and professor at the RSM.
A second prize was awarded to the submission from a student team from Erasmus University Rotterdam under the supervision of Dr. Niels Agatz of the RSM. The submission includes a thorough analysis of aspects of the logistics model, including international solutions to identify best practices. This provides concrete tools for improving the current vaccination operation indicators for future vaccination programs.
