Many of today's leaders understand that improving the mental health of their employees is good for both the well-being of their people and their business. Unfortunately, while they understand its importance well, all too often they misunderstand the definition of it.

There are 5 steps that leaders need to take for understanding the well being of their employees. One of the best things leaders can do to develop the mental aptitude of their teams is to make sure managers communicate the reasoning behind decisions. Roger Martin of the RSM at the University of Toronto calls this "turning strategy into conversation."
