Paul Ruijs, student at RSM, has won the KPMG thesis award. Ruijs receives the prize for the contribution he makes with his thesis to the dilemma of many listed companies in finding investors that fit their long-term strategy. A strategy that is not aimed at creating as much shareholder value as possible, but at achieving long-term goals that are good for the company and better for people, the environment and society. In meeting their long-term goals, companies often encounter investor restraint, which may be focused on the shorter term. A sustainable strategy by definition requires the long-term support of investors, support that is highly dependent on the involvement of shareholders.
