Large existing energy companies are often described as a hurdle in the energy transition because they cannot part with fossil fuels. PhD candidate Gerbert Hengelaar of RSM studied the realisation of the Energy Agreement in 2013 and discovered that the established companies played a crucial role in accelerating the transition by forming coalitions.
