Resolving conflicts is more successful with a simple "sorry" than giving gifts, says PhD candidate Laura Straeter of RSM. Her study, which analysed the opinions of 153 people showed that the more expensive the gift, the less angry the receiving party was - but saying sorry remained the most effective method in making up after a fight.
