As you might have already heard, RSM currently has its own E-learning team.

Our main goal is to improve education from a didactic point of view. The use of technology in this process is a means to an end, not a goal in itself.

More specifically, this means we can help you:

  • innovate your course
  • use educational tools
  • use and create videos
  • deal with legal rights that concern e-learning
  • get funding for learning innovations

If you have any ideas on how to innovate your course, or want to know more about what we do don’t hesitate to stop by (T6-13), send us an email (e-learning@rsm.nl).

You can also visit our new (and regularly updated) website on the RSM intranet: https://intranet.eur.nl/group/rsm/e-learning.

We are more than willing to help you with your educational challenges!

With kind regards,

Richard Hageman

In brief

This scholarship was founded by two IBA-alumni of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and funded together with other alumni to support students who might otherwise not fully participate in the Bachelor programme in International Business Administration (IBA) due to financial constraints. It is motivated by the invaluable experience gained by the donors throughout and upon completion of the IBA programme – both academically, and with regards to the expansive international network they derived from it.

For whom?

Application for the scholarship is open for prospective students (thus, this scholarship is not meant for currently enrolled RSM and EUR students) of the IBA programme starting their studies in the academic year 2017-2018. The candidate must be a citizen of a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA), entitled to pay the statutory tuition fee.

In order to be considered for the Entrepreneurial Spirit Scholarship, applicants need to meet all BSc admissions requirements and be in possession of an unconditional offer letter. Information about the entry requirements and application process can be found by visiting www.rsm.nl/bacheloradmissions

Award

€2,006 covering the statutory tuition fee in 2017-2018 as well as yearly book fees to a maximum of €600 per year for the duration of studies (3 years in total, conditional upon annual re-evaluation). Mentorship by alumni for the duration of their studies at RSM.

Criteria

-Students with a truly entrepreneurial spirit who would demonstrably benefit from financial support.

-Upon acceptance the student becomes an outstanding ambassador of the Entrepreneurial Spirit Scholarship and the Rotterdam School of Management, which includes supporting marketing initiatives.

-Upon acceptance the student commits to stay involved after graduation as a mentor for the new incoming students accepted into the scholarship programme.

-At the end of the first year of studies, the student accepted into the programme will be re-evaluated, to ensure the student stays on track with his/her academic studies, remains entrepreneurial in spirit and acts as a good ambassador for the scholarship programme and the school. Being accepted to continue with the scholarship for the second year of studies is contingent upon the re-evaluation by the selection committee based upon criteria set together at the start of the academic year.

How and when to apply?

When you want to apply for this scholarship, please send below documents to the scholarship inbox: scholarship_bscmsc@rsm.nlThe application letter should include the following information:

1.  CV or link to your Linkedin page

2.  A separate and concise motivation essay of maximum 900 words that answers the following questions:

  • How do you display an entrepreneurial spirit?
  • What or who inspired you to take action?
  • How do your past and current activities demonstrate your entrepreneurial spirit?
  • What are your plans for the future and why?
  • Why do you think entrepreneurship is important to both the individual and society?

3. An application letter with relevant information on the financial situation of the applicant supported by documents serving as evidence, such as income statement and salary strips of parents or other financial supporters.

Please note that we can only take a scholarship application into consideration if it is complete and meets all of the requirements, including a scholarship application letter.

Applicants need to submit the following before February 15, 2017.

Decision

The decision will be made on merit and financial need by a selection committee. Selected candidates will be invited to schedule a 30-min telephone interview with members of the selection committee in April 2017. Following this interview, selected students will be given a 5-day period to solve a business case. The selection committee will award the scholarship May 15, 2017.

No, RSM does not have a special admissions process or criteria for students with refugee status because individual situations can vary widely. Applications from refugees will therefore be assessed on an individual basis. If you have questions regarding your diploma, please contact the RSM admissions office.

The Erasmus University does offer general support for refugees. Please visit the refugee pages for more information.

The International Office deals with questions from students every day. We have listed the

most common questions and answers here. Please check if the information you need is

on these pages before contacting the International Office.

When can I go?

The exchange takes place during your seventh trimester, which is the first trimester of

your bachelor programme’s third year. It takes place on a semester or trimester basis,

normally from late August until late December. Academic calendars at host universities

might vary. For example, programmes in Australia and New Zealand start in July and the

programmes in China and Portugal run into January. It is your responsibility to be aware

of these dates. Most students can return to RSM in December and begin the eighth

trimester according to RSM’s calendar, but some do not have this option. Please consult

RSM’s International Office on how to proceed if this is the case.

Students who are in their 4th bachelor year are not able to apply for the bachelor

exchange anymore.

Does an exchange mean a delay to my studies?

An exchange does not cause a delay to your studies if you hand in a proper conversion

proposal before you leave for your exchange. This conversion proposal needs to be

approved by the Executive Director of your programme. Please bear in mind that the

minimum workload as set by the International Office must always be equivalent to

20 ECTS.

Do BA and IBA students have the same chance of being selected?

Yes. The selection is based on several criteria; being an IBA or a BA student is not one

of them.

What about my selection? What are my chances of being selected for an exchange to

a particular school, and for my first choice?

There is always a tough competition for exchange places, and for some destinations even

more than for others. That’s why we ask you to apply to more than one destination. As a

rule, the more destinations you are willing to be exchanged to, the more chance you have

to be selected for an exchange.

The International Office cannot tell you exactly how likely you are to be selected, either

for all or particular destinations. Both hard and soft selection criteria are used. We do

not only look at how you score on these criteria, but also compare this to your fellow

students’ profiles. The Selection Committee will always do its best to offer you one of

your first three preferred destinations.

When can we expect to receive information from our host university?

In general, three months prior to the start of your exchange programme you will receive

information from the host university. Once the International Office has nominated you

for a place at the host university you will be notified and from then you are allowed to

contact the school yourself. You are responsible for submitting all additional documents

required by the host university, such as transcripts and your CV, before their deadline.
