In the premaster programme NO exemptions will be granted. Premaster students must take all courses of the premaster programme.

A different payment procedure applies for NON-EU/EEA students who need to apply for a VISA. The information will be included in the VISA instructions, which will be sent to you after having accepted your offer.

RSM has a webcast team available that can assist teaching staff members with various forms of webcasts. Webcasts of the lectures are possible, but professors can also choose to make short videos which highlight specific topics using whiteboards and/or slides.

A few points to take in consideration when correcting examinations and determining overall course grades:

• All teaching staff members are expected to be aware of and operate in accordance of the Teaching and Examination Regulations as established by the RSM Examination Board. The Examination Board has developed an online platform called ‘Teaching Net,’ accessible via RSM Intranet, which features detailed descriptions of many of these regulations (such as the minimum grade requirement, rounding of grades to the nearest tenth of a decimal, validity of partial grades, etc).
• All teaching staff members are required to implement the grading scales (cesuur) as determined by the Examination Board when determining grades. A check should always be done to ensure that the regulations have not been violated, even if the Risbo services have been used to aid in examination grade calculations.
• Teaching staff members are expected to be aware of any remaining regulations and procedures established by the Examination Board and/or Programme Management as outlined in mails from the executive directors and/or via the Teaching Net online platform 

There are two rules that we would especially like to emphasize: 

- Please note that grades should always be calculated using a scale of 0.0-10.0. 

- A minimum grade requirement rule applies for courses for which the overall grade is composed of multiple elements and not just an examination. This means that students must score at least a 4.5 on the examination in order to receive an overall grade for the course. If the examination grade is lower than a 4.5 than the student should receive an 'O' (= onvoldoende, which is Dutch for insufficient) as their overall grade. Examinations that can be taken only once per academic year, such as case reports and team assignments, are exempted from this rule. 

The IBA programme is offered as a truly international programme. The international dimension of IBA can be seen in multiple fields. The main learning outcome of the programme is the competence of or graduates to successfully function as a manager in internationally operating firms:

This goal is achieved in many ways:

• we teach in English;
• a considerable number of courses focuses on the international dimension of the area studied;
• a stay abroad is highly recommended for all of our students, either through an international exchange, an international internship or an international study trip;
• in many courses, students will need to work in internationally composed teams, enhancing their skills in this field;
• the IBA programme has a selective admission, to guarantee that sufficient diversity within the student population is created. The programme is proud that each year students from 40 different nationalities start with us;
• teaching staff is international
• we value language competence, by facilitating students taking language electives during studies.

Elke docent kiest een passende wijze van tentamineren, bijvoorbeeld een open- of geslotenboek-tentamen. De wijze van beoordelen is vastgelegd in de course manual van het desbetreffende vak die je ontvangt voor aanvang van de colleges.

Over het geheel genomen beoordeelt de docent je studieprestaties aan de hand van:

• je participatie tijdens colleges
• individuele opdrachten
• opdrachten in groepsverband
• individuele en groepspresentaties
• een schriftelijk tentamen

Als je besloten hebt om naast je werk bedrijfskunde te gaan studeren, vraag je misschien af of je voor een MSc of een MBA zou moeten kiezen. Daarom hier wat informatie over de verschillen en overeenkomsten.

Deeltijd MSc Bedrijfskunde

De Parttime Master Bedrijfskunde opleiding geeft je de MSc titel. De opleiding is gebaseerd op het Nederlandse onderwijssysteem en is gericht op kennisontwikkeling en toepassing voor de praktijk. Je leert om vanuit verschillende perspectieven te kijken naar je werk en je organisatie, zodat je goede ideeën kunt ontwikkelen en toepassen om te werken aan een betere performance voor jezelf, je afdeling en je gehele organisatie.

Met de MSc opleiding ontwikkel je een breed perspectief,  waardoor je meerdere invalshoeken kunt combineren om bijvoorbeeld een probleem op te lossen of een innovatie te realiseren. In de opleiding worden de colleges gegeven door docenten van RSM, die putten uit eigen onderzoek en die ervaring hebben met de praktijk. Een studie die opleidt tot een MSc titel zal, omdat het een universitaire studie is, ook ingaan op het handwerk van academisch onderzoek. Methodologie en wetenschapsleer helpen je om zelf goed wetenschappelijk onderzoek te kunnen verrichten. Ben je nieuwsgierig en op zoek naar nieuwe kennis en inzichten, en wil je de dingen echt begrijpen? Dan is de Parttime Master Bedrijfskunde opleiding een passende studie.

MBA

Een MBA is gebaseerd op het Amerikaanse opleidingssysteem. Het is een beroepsopleiding voor het ‘vak van manager’ en gericht op het oplossen van problemen. Een MBA wordt internationaal gezien als een basiskwalificatie voor iedereen die in een internationale omgeving een managementpositie vervult.

Dit zijn verschillen tussen een MBA titel en Msc titel in het algemeen. 

Bij voltooiing van RSM's Parttime Master Bedrijfskunde behaal je de graad Master of Science in Business Administration. Je mag dan de afkorting 'MScBA' achter je naam vermelden.

Met relevante werkervaring bedoelen wij werkervaring waarbij je verantwoordelijkheid hebt gedragen, met deadlines of budgetten te maken hebt gehad, en met anderen hebt moeten samenwerken. Of het kan werkervaring zijn op een bedrijfskundig vakgebied, zoals human resource management, strategie, operations, marketing, sales, verandermanagement, finance, ICT of new business development. Het kan gaan om zowel betaalde of onbetaalde functies.

Iedereen met een hbo-achtergrond die wil deelnemen aan de Parttime Master Bedrijfskunde opleiding, legt de entreetoets af. Dit is een toets die inzicht geeft in je bedrijfskundige basis

Om je goed voor te bereiden op deze toets is het boek  'Basisboek Bedrijfskunde, een inleiding in management en ondernemerschap'  (S. Douma, 2009) beschikbaar. Dit boek krijg je bij aanmelding toegestuurd.

Naast dit boek is er tevens een proeftoets beschikbaar. Op deze manier ben je goed voorbereid op de entreetoets van de Parttime Master Bedrijfskunde opleiding. Een proeftoets kun je aanvragen bij de programmamanagers na aanmelding voor de opleiding.

Na voldoende afronding van de toets wordt je uitgenodigd voor het intakegesprek om vervolgens je aanmelding af te ronden.

The study trip is one week long and it will give you the opportunity to expand your understanding of business in a significantly different socio-economic and cultural environment. A typical week abroad consists of lectures, in-class discussions and company visits to gain an in depth view of the local business and social culture. In previous years groups have gone to such diverse locations as Estonia, Iceland, and Dubai.

This depends on the programme you are interested in. Admission requirements for each MSc programme are listed on the Admission & Application pages.

All students who finish their Master at RSM, will receive a Master in Science (MSc) degree followed by the name of their MSc programme, e.g. MSc MM for those who completed Marketing Management.

Students who finished Accounting & Financial Management, Business Analytics & Management, and Master in Management will receive the degree MScBA, Master of Science in Business Administration.

The academic year officially starts on 1 September. Student receive more information on the exact date and time of the IBA Kick off in July/August.

Since its introduction in 1993, the Bolashak programme, meaning “the future” in Kazakh, has allowed hundreds of Kazakhstan’s brightest students to study abroad at some of the best universities in the world. Bolashak is the international scholarship programme of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Bolashak students participate in Bachelor or Master programmes in subjects which the Kazakh government has identified as priority areas to enable the country to prosper. Business is one of these areas. Upon graduation, students return to their home country to work in government service for a period of five years.

The scholarship covers all tuition, insurance and accommodation costs, as well as living expenses and travel costs from Kazakhstan to the Netherlands and home again at the end of the period of study.

King Kong Hostel - a very cool hostel that blends industrial design with 21st century contemporary art. It has a superb location in the beginning of Witte de Wittestraat which is in the heart of Rotterdam’s social scene and all the city’s best bars and restaurants are on your doorstep.

Hostel ROOM Rotterdam – located in Rotterdam’s historic Scheepvaartkwartier, near a beautiful little harbour. There are lots of good places for wining and dining in the area and close to the city’s main park.

Hostel Stayokay – this hostel is located in the city centre of Rotterdam in the striking cube houses. Next to Metro station “Blaak”.

The Fundación para el Futuro de Colombia (COLFUTURO) and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) share an interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of business education between Colombia and The Netherlands and promoting stronger ties between the two institutions by increasing the financial support available for the graduate studies of Colombian students.

To apply for the joint graduate loan-scholarship programme, students need to:

2. Students admitted to RSM graduate degree programmes need to submit a loan-scholarship application to Colfuturo, following the normal application procedure and meeting all the standard requirements established by Colfuturo.

Although both study programmes are completely taught in English, consist both of international and Dutch students, and various disciplines are treated in both programmes, there are also major differences:

• IBA focuses on how a company works (what kind of influences economy/politics etc. have on a company), while IBEB takes the more analytical approach and from the perspective of the economics discipline (what kind of influences have companies on the economy).
• IBEB is more quantitative than IBA therefore has more mathematical based subjects
• IBA admits approximately 550 students whereas IBEB 250.

If you look at the content of the each programme there will be certain overlaps but as stated the focus of the subject will be different. To better understand your decision it might help to think about what you would like to do after IBA/IBEB. If you would like to continue with more economical subjects IBEB would give you a good foundation. However, if you are more interested in management or businesses directions (e.g. Marketing, Human Resource, Strategy, Finance and Accounting), IBA would give you a more suitable foundation.
