The RSM International Office always recommends you to do courses abroad for more than 20 ECTS.

Should you fail a course and therefore not reach the minimum of 20 ECTS you can always ask for a resit at the host university or, in exceptional cases, make an arrangement with your Master programme department to do an additional assignment/take home exam for the missing ECTS.

Many of our applicants ask why we require certified hard copies or originals of their diploma(s) and academic transcripts when we already have digital copies. RSM requires official hard copies because digital documents are easier to forge and are not legal documents.

The exam certificate (minimum grade of 7.0 for VWO Mathematics A or a minimum grade of 6.0 for VWO Mathematics B) must be submitted in the Online Application Form (OLAF) no later than 1 April so plan your exam date carefully. In many countries official academic transcripts contain a GPA (Grade Point Average) - one calculated per semester, and one calculated over the entire study programme. In some cases a GPA will only be calculated once the programme has been completed. If your transcript does not contain a GPA, the admissions office will calculate one for you. Please note that the Admissions Manager will ultimately determine whether your GPA is sufficient or not. Grades earned on exchange can be included in the GPA calculation if they are translated to the Dutch grading system by your university (only applicable for students coming from Dutch research or applied sciences universities).

The easiest way to calculate your GPA yourself is to use Excel. You can use the example below to make the calculation. In column A you should enter the grades you have earned so far. In column B you need to enter the credits earned for each course. When you have entered all of the grades and credits, you need to put the following formulas into the spreadsheet:

In cell B5 =SUM(B1:B4); In column C =SUM(A1*B1), =SUM(A2*B2) etc; In cell C5 =SUM(C1:C4)/B5 This last answer is your GPA.

  A B C
  Grade Credits Total
1 7 6 42
2 7 6 42
3 8 5 40
4 5 5 25
5   22 6,77272

The MSc International Management/CEMS programme is the only selective master programme, meaning that only the best candidates will be selected for admission. Meeting the minimum admissions criteria does not guarantee a place in this programme.

For all other MSc programmes a rolling admissions process is in place. When you meet the minimum admission requirements, followed the admissions process and adheared to the deadlines, you will be admitted. Please note that for some programmes there is a maximum capacity, meaning that the programme might fill up before the regular application deadline.

Once the required literature has been determined orders can be placed via the StudyStore (textbooks and readers) to ensure that students receive their materials on time before the start of the trimester.  It is advisable to include the required literature in the Undergraduate Catalogue text but if this information is known at a later date that we kindly ask that you inform programme management so that they can update the information in the online course catalogue.

Questions about ordering readers and the accompanying copyright regulations can be addressed to the StudyStore. Please also refer to the section entitled 'Copyright' of this online manual.

Textbooks and readers should be ordered well before the start of the trimester in accordance with any deadlines StudyStore, and publishers themselves may require.  The contact information for the StudyStore can be found under the section entitled Who, What, Where.

As far as the cost of required literature, readers, and other learning tools for a specific course is concerned, the general rule to follow is that the price of the required literature should not exceed € 14,- per ECTS. The maximum price that students for a 4 ECTS course can be expected to pay, for example, is € 56,-.

Copyright also plays a role when creating, publishing, and reusing an article, paper, textbook or research materials. Many questions arise when dealing with this topic:  When do the copyright rules apply, and what does this mean for an author or a user of publications? The Copyright information desk provides a lot of useful information to teaching staff members and researchers. The information center is available in the form of a website and a digital environment. More information can be found via https://www.eur.nl/ub/english/informationpoint_copyright/
