What are economists working on, and how does that contribute to society? The Economenparade 2023 (Economists' parade) highlights the most striking scientific achievements, explores how the new academics view their social role, and provides an overview of the ESB contributions that were best read last year. Among the top contributors are four professors from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM).

Professors Joep Cornelissen, Pursey Heugens and Dr Emilio Marti are listed in the top 20 ranking for the economists with the most relevant publications related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Professor Dirk Schoenmaker is in the top 5 of publications that were academically most innovative.

ESB states that in recent years, attention to the social impact of academic economists has increased. That why ESB not only highlights the scientific achievements in its economists' parade, but also the social achievements of economists.

ESB

ESB is the platform for economists in the Netherlands. Its core consists of articles written by external authors – academic economists and influential policy makers – based on sound research. These articles provide relevant arguments for policy and guide the debate. The editors work with the authors to make their insights accessible. ESB also publishes various sections that keep readers informed of developments in the field, for example to highlight recent academic research and statistics, as well as shorter columns from leading economists.
