Anand Giridharadas, the author of the groundbreaking book Winners Take All, will make his appearance at RSM

Winners take All is an insider’s groundbreaking investigation of how the global elite’s efforts to “change the world” preserve the status quo and obscure their role in causing the problems they later seek to solve. It shines a light on the shady sides of philanthropy, and the ties with capitalism, but also describes how we - in the west - are currently living in a culture - or bubble - of winners, of people who're doing well by doing good - where we don't (want to) see that there are losers too.

Giridharadas asks inconvenient questions: Why, for example, should our gravest problems be solved by the unelected upper crust instead of the public institutions it erodes by lobbying and dodging taxes? He also points toward an answer: Rather than rely on scraps from the winners, we must take on the grueling democratic work of building more robust, egalitarian institutions and truly changing the world. A call to action for elites and everyday citizens alike.

We invite you to be part of this unique visit on October 16. The night is presented by The Tipping Point Foundation and the discussion will include several professors:

Rob van Tulder is a professor of International Business-Society Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM).

Karen Maas is endowed professor Accounting and Sustainability at the Open University and academic director of Impact Centre Erasmus (ICE).
