The alumni network of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) has a mission to connect graduates around the world. They're succeeding in style! The year 2024 started with an action-packed calendar of events, meeting alumni everywhere from the buzz of Singapore to cozy pubs in Oxford – where they reminisced about Rotterdam, shared knowledge and drinks, and talked business.

RSM’s local alumni chapters kicked off the year back in January with two events on one day on opposite sides of the world: there were Lunar New Year drinks in the buzz of Singapore's Brewerkz One Fullerton, and clinking glasses with the Frankfurt alumni crew at Sullivan Bar in downtown Frankfurt, Germany.

Cocktails and masterclasses

A few weeks later, RSM alumni met in Milan, Italy, sharing stories and cocktails with bright students from student association InDuplo in a hidden bar in the city. Getting alumni and students together like this made for some inspiring networking and learning opportunities. The same day, alumni in the UK found themselves in Oxford for after-work drinks, sipping a pint with peers and with Professor Tine de Moor who was there as a visiting fellow at Exeter College.

RSM’s former dean Prof. Steef van de Velde held a masterclass in Tokyo in mid-February. He told the 20 attending alumni about operating models that can identify the key factors in a successful business.

Taiwanese treats and Spanish wine

RSM’s Taipei crew hosted a delicious dinner at Tien Hsiang Lo, proving that RSM alumni have both great minds and great taste.

The alumni clubs in Spain from RSM, London Business School and UCLA Anderson School of Management organised a joint alumni event in Madrid. Alumni visited the Barrio de las Letras where great writers of the 17th century lived, walked through its historic sites, and concluded with a tasting of Spanish wines at Casa de Luna.

RSM’s alumni in London, UK, connected at The Folley bar for networking drinks, on the same day as after-work drinks in Dubai at the Belgian Beer Café ‘Souk Madinat Jumeirah’.

Those living in Berlin gathered with IE alumni for a networking brunch at the cafe at Hallesches Haus in early March. Alumni from the two business schools often collaborate to arrange events for their alumni community in the German capital. They also had after-work drinks that month at Beavis Bar. This recurring networking event is hosted at a different bar each month to give alumni in the Berlin region the chance to connect over drinks, share insights, and expand their professional network.

New York vibes and a taste of India

Another networking event provided the perfect opportunity for alumni to connect with each other in the heart of New York City on 13 March. Hosted at BXL Zoute, the delightful Belgian-Dutch menu fit the theme of the evening while alumni reminisced about their time in Rotterdam.

Alumni from Dutch universities who reside in India gathered at the Dutch ambassador's residence in New Delhi where they fostered meaningful connections and shared their stories and experiences in the Netherlands.

Indonesian kick-off and Canadian spring

In Brussels, alumni from Erasmus University Rotterdam welcomed Michiel Scheffer, President of the European Innovation Council, for an evening of deep discussion on 21 March. The evening concluded with a networking dinner, providing a platform for further connections and discussions.

The newly formed EUR Indonesia Chapter hosted alumni from diverse backgrounds spanning government, NGOs, consulting firms, and the private sector for a Bukber gathering in Jakarta in late March. This first event by the chapter fostered vibrant exchanges, new friendships, and the exploration of potential opportunities, setting the stage for future gatherings and the strengthening of the EUR alumni network in Indonesia.

RSM and EUR alumni gathered at Brass House in Shuiwei's Cultural Block 1368 in Shenzhen for a networking event on 26 March. Attendees reconnected over drinks and meet fellow alumni in the Shenzhen region in China.

RSM’s Canada chapter held its Toronto Spring Gathering at Mascot Brewery on 28 March, providing a platform for networking, forging new connections, and reuniting with old friends in the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Toronto.

The Dutch Alumni Club in Bulgaria hosted its March gathering at Rafi in Sofia. Alumni gathered for drinks and conversation, providing a great opportunity to network and reconnect with fellow alumni in a relaxed setting.

RSM alumni network

RSM is more than ‘just’ a business school, it’s a network of thinkers and doers, a community built on laughter, debate, knowledge sharing and the shared belief that its people can make a difference. With a growing network of more than 50,000 alumni worldwide, RSM’s alumni community brings alumni opportunities for lifelong learning, professional development and social connections throughout their careers. Alumni include all RSM graduates, from the first post-kandidaats, IIB and Bedrijfskunde programmes in the early 1970s up to those who graduated only this year.

Local alumni chapters

There are lots of local alumni chapters worldwide to make alumni from RSM and Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) feel at home. If your city isn't on the map, reach out and let's change that. And if we are coming to your neck of the woods, register for the event – you won't regret it.
