“The Project Management in Practice programme was recommended to me by colleagues who had done it before – they were very positive about the quality of the course.
It’s an intensive and very interactive three days, but well designed with a clear structure and I liked the open discussions a lot. It was interesting – and eye-opening – to learn with participants from different countries. They were all very open when we discussed the diversity of culture in project management.
The teacher (Anthony Eve) was very good – clear and constructive, open, patient, and funny. I appreciated him sharing lots of practical examples from his experiences, as well as teaching us theories and tools.
The first two days were focused on learning a very structured way to set up and implement a project in six steps, which are very practical and I will certainly apply some of the steps and use some of the recommended tools in my work. The last day was focused on the people management aspect, which is not only about how to deal with different personalities and cultural backgrounds but also about finding out about myself and getting to know who I am.
What I learned confirmed my general knowledge about project management; the course also broadened my knowledge and deepened my insights and it affirms my career orientation. Being aware of the diverse cultures in the programme reminds me what Tony told us: ‘Project management is 80 per cent about people management and 20 per cent about methods and tools.”
