Erasmus Paviljoen, 350 Burgemeester Oudlaan, Rotterdam
Set an agenda with clarity, engage interest with connection, and mobilize groups with confidence.
Too often, the smartest person in the room isn’t necessarily the one who has the most influence. In a world full of uncertainty, we need leaders with a calm, confident and reassuring presence – and with great ideas, delivered in a clear, engaging, and convincing manner that suggests commitment and competence.
In this fast-paced, interactive session with Dorothy Grandia, you’ll explore how communication becomes a source of influence, especially during times of change and transformation. You’ll take on a creative challenge that puts your leadership communication to the test and reveals what it really takes to get people on board. Along the way, you’ll learn simple techniques to sharpen your message, connect with purpose, and present your ideas in a way that inspires action. Whether you're preparing for your next big move or just want to feel more confident in the room, this session will give you tools to speak so people listen, remember, and repeat your great ideas – with your name attached!
About the Speaker:
Dorothy Grandia is Associate Director of Programming at the Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations at Rotterdam School of Management, where she has shaped inclusive leadership education since 2014. She also serves as Director of Media and Communication for a Key Research Initiative on Sustainable Smart Energy and Mobility at the University of Cologne, where she works with a multidisciplinary team to develop engagement with public and corporate audiences that clarifies the role of AI and market incentive in enabling flexible electricity demand during the energy transition.
Dorothy is a visiting practitioner in the Art of Communication elective at INSEAD for both the full-time and GEMBA programs. She also collaborates with ScaleNL and other venture capital-backed startups to help entrepreneurs craft and deliver compelling messaging that is tailored to clients, stakeholders, or investors.
She is a member of an international facilitation team practicing Structured Democratic Dialogue (SDD), a method designed to help diverse stakeholder groups address complex “wicked” problems through shared understanding and consensus-building. SDD enables inclusive, systems-oriented decision-making by surfacing hidden assumptions, clarifying priorities, and co-creating actionable pathways forward.
Whether working with policymakers, entrepreneurs, or executive teams, Dorothy’s facilitation style transforms individual insights into shared meaning, fostering dialogue that drives both personal growth and collective change.
