Introduction

As a research assistant starting on August 2024 at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), you assist professors Jan Dul and Erik van Raaij at RSM’s department of Technology and Operations Management in their research for their study: Necessary Condition Analysis and Sustainable Procurement in Healthcare.

Jan Dul is the founder and leading researcher of the research method Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA). A substantial part of his research consists of developing this method further. This includes gathering new insights about how NCA is used in practice, what trends there are in its application and more. Visit the website for more info about NCA. It’s helpful if you already know a bit about NCA, but it’s not expected.

Erik van Raaij is a professor of Sustainable Procurement in Healthcare, which focusses on the intersection between sustainability, health care and supply chain. He is also one of only two professors at Erasmus who is part of the Rotterdam School of Management and the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management. Erik teaches courses in health care procurement, advanced research methods, value chain management and more.

Given that both professors are highly experienced in research methodology, your role as a research assistant gives you the opportunity to develop your academic skills and contribute to the development of methodological and substantive publications. Your primary goal is to provide support by various means to the research of Jan Dul and Erik van Raaij.
