Introduction

As our continuous quality improvement officer at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, (RSM), it’s your ongoing task and responsibility to the organisation to spearhead continuous improvement initiatives in our educational processes.

You closely collaborate with your colleagues who coordinate and manage RSM’s quality assurance and accreditation policies and processes, and you report to the executive director quality and innovation. 

Job description

Your tasks for this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop continuous improvement plans: conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify areas of improvement; develop initiatives in consultation with executive director quality and innovation; ensure alignment of improvement plans and RSM educational strategy. 
  • Contribute to the facilitation of the implementation of the formulated policy within the institution and/or parts thereof. 
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives: lead the development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders from various functions and teams; design and analyse performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of initiatives; and regularly update senior management and other stakeholders on the progress of the initiatives, performance metrics and any other updates. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement: advocate for a culture that embraces continuous improvement and quality excellence; develop and deliver training workshops to ensure faculty and staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to integrate continuous improvement initiatives; and provide ongoing support to ensure successful adoption of new improvement practices. 
  • Ad-hoc: provide support to other quality assurance and accreditation colleagues during their peak season; and contribute to the facilitation of the implementation of formulated policies within RSM.  

Your challenges include: 

  • Close collaboration with busy senior academic and non-academic colleagues and communicating with these colleagues in a professional and timely manner.
    This is where your ability to enforce tight, non-negotiable timelines in a sensitive and appropriate yet effective manner comes into play. 
  • Effective management and prioritisation of tasks with minimal supervision.

    We are looking for a candidate with:

    • a degree at least at master level
    • strong knowledge of accreditation and quality assurance issues in higher education, previous experience with assurance of learning is a plus
    • excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
    • proficiency in English (CEFR level C1) and Dutch (CEFR level B2/C1)

    We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

    The preferred start date of this position is 01-NOV-2024 and you will be based at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). This position is for 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3,502 to a maximum of € 4,812 gross per month Scale 9 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of 12 months and can be converted into a permanent contract if performance is good and the organizational circumstances remain unchanged.
