The graduation ceremony for the BSc Business Administration (Bedrijfskunde) graduates took place on Thursday 3 November. Of the 494 graduates of the programme, 359 attended the ceremony. Ten students graduated cum laude.
After Dean of Education Prof. Eric Waarts, spoke at the Bedrijfskunde graduation, graduates Joshua Alagbe and Cindy van Kerkhof took the stage to talk about their bachelor experiences at RSM, the unique atmosphere in the programme, and told anecdotes about their professors.
International audience
The next day, 365 BSc in International Business Administration (IBA) students celebrated their graduation, of which 41 cum laude and 7 summa cum laude. Their graduation ceremony, which was broadcast live, was attended by 283 IBA graduates from 45 nationalities. More than 1,500 viewers from 37 countries watched this live stream.
Speakers at the IBA ceremony included Prof. Steef van de Velde, dean of RSM; Dr Gabriele Jacobs, academic director of the IBA programme, and comedian Greg Shapiro. IBA graduates Minjon van der Weck and Sedale Wijngaarde held the graduate speeches. They spoke about the ‘IBA family feeling’ and the lifelong friends they made in the programme. Van der Weck and Wijngaarde also talked about their experiences in moving abroad, learning from such a variety of cultures, and the international classroom.
Charitable cause
Drink tokens were sold during the reception, also at the New Luxor Theater, after each graduation ceremony. All proceeds from the token sales will go to Friends of Sophia, a foundation that raises funds for the Erasmus MC-Sophia children’s hospital in Rotterdam. In total, the BA and IBA graduates and their guests raised € 10,780 for the foundation.
The bachelor graduates are now part of the RSM alumni network with more than 30,000 members worldwide.
